Call for Participation

We would like to inform you that an International interdisciplinary workshop on light pollution will be held in Cadi Ayyad University,
Marrakech, Morocco, from 22 to 26 of October 2018.

The workshop is organized in the framework of a new project called Atlas Dark Sky Morocco (ADSM). The project is aiming the creation of a Dark Sky Reserve around the Oukaimeden observatory in Morocco. The reserve will cover a large area including the Toubkal National Park and the Oukaimeden observatory, With a radius of about 80 km, it will become the largest Dark Sky Reserve worldwide and the first in North Africa.

The meeting aim is to bring together experts to discuss the current state of the art in that field, facilitate future development of research, favor the establishment of new dark sky places and help to restrict the unwanted effects of light pollution.

We would like to kindly invite you to submit an abstract  for this symposium before July 15, 18h00 GMT. (A template is available here). Submission may be associated with one of the following areas :

  • Astronomy
  • Health
  • Social Sciences
  • Laws and regulations
  • Field study
  • Modeling
  • Clean lighting technologies

Participants without a presentation are welcome to register.

Fees:

The workshop fee is 300 EUR per participant. The fee covers registration, workshop material, lunches and coffee breaks during the workshop days, shuttle bus services. The fee does not cover, telecommunications usage, private transport, or any other personal expenses. Registration will not be confirmed until payment is received.
